3D Environments
Completed April, 2025
Throughout the 2470 Animation course, the class was tasked with completing two 3D environments that conveyed a story for the viewer. Similar to how animators set a scene for a character to interact with, we learned modeling and texturing skills in the software Autodesk Maya, Adobe Substance Painter, and Premier Pro to produce completely rendered animations of our designed rooms.
ENVIRONMENT 1: PROGRESS WORK
Below showcases different progress shots of the 3D room being created. Throughout the modeling process, all of the props were being designed and created before we were tasked with setting the scene to build a story out of the environment. This first room follows the narrative of a magical being that possesses potions, spells, scrolls, and other witchy items in a cluttered space.

ENVIRONMENT 1: FINAL STILLS
Before the rendering process, I decided to create a darker and somewhat moonlit atmosphere that conveyed the cozier and eerier aspect of the environment. Through the process of texturing, I decided to experiment with more realistic materials and shading to emphasize the mysterious and secluded space in which this being resides.

ENVIRONMENT 2: PROGRESS WORK
Similar to the first room, below consists of different progress shots of the 3D environment being created. The process for completing the room included object modeling, setting the scene, texturing, and then applying materials all before the lighting and rendering process. This second environment follows the story of a mouse that resides in the wall of a house that is owned by an aspiring magician, specifically following the setting of a 1930s creaky and water damaged abode.

ENVIRONMENT 2: FINAL STILLS
The texturing and lighting process differed from the first environment through the manual outlining and consistent paper-like texturing that I applied to the scene. By using Adobe Substance Painter, I was able to capture a more cartoonish look on the models, which contrasts from the more realistic approach I had with the first room. As for lighting, I spent a lot of time creating a warmly lit and cozy atmosphere for the mouse to reside, deciding to keep the space simple and lived-in, while also trying to capture the light from the rest of the house shining in through the hole in the wall.
