2D Game 2025

Completed April, 2025

Similar to the 2D platformer game I completed in 2024, this game consisted of an environment, props, and character to control on the screen to collect various items. By using Adobe Photoshop and Unreal Engine, we were tasked with creating a game concept that could be used for further development. 
 

BACKGROUND

From experimental thumbnails and environmental closeups, I completed the final kitchen scene in Photoshop with a combination of elements from the environment 2 mockups. The color scheme chosen was meant to feel somewhat historic and vintage to capture the essence of a house that is falling apart and clearly lived in.

ENVIRONMENT PROPS

Through a lot of process work and concept art, the props that were chosen were selected based on how they would be as obstacles that the character would have to interact with. The style of the sketchy lines and dim colors directly correlate to the old-timey setting that was created in the background to give a more vintage effect to the game concept. 

CHARACTER

The mouse character follows the same process and intentional appearance as the background and props which can be seen below. Through a thorough amount of concept art and dynamic poses, I was able to narrow down the look that I thought would best support the game. 

FINAL CONCEPT

Below is a rough concept of what the game would look like if it were fully developed, obviously with a few hiccups and a rougher gameplay. The coding and game itself was completed using Unreal Engine.
