Hannah Thomas (she/her/hers) is a Junior Undergraduate at East Carolina University currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Animation and Interactive Design. Born and raised in Newark, Delaware, she decided to move to North Carolina to chase her desire to learn the art of animation with her previous skillset in traditional painting and drawing. In the last year, Hannah has recently received a merit award for the 2025 School of Art and Design Undergraduate Juried Exhibition in the Wellington B. Gray Gallery, for a three-dimensional environment animation titled “The Button Nook.” Her pursuit includes technical exploration in both 2D and 3D design software, aiming to broaden her skillsets in the animation concentration. Over the last few years she's worked in creating animations that include a multitude of texture and multidisciplinary elements. Through a mix in both traditional and digital mediums, she aims to continue to create pieces that encapsulate movement and visually interesting media that would not normally be seen in traditional animation styles. Throughout her projects, she has found a rhythm in completing works that focus on a multitude of emotions, color choices, and textured feels. Her use of color in every project is extremely important in conveying a specific and intended purpose of each piece, whether that be a grungy grey, orange, and off white title sequence about boxing, or emphasizing a different vibe for various apartment living arrangements in a montage. Currently, Hannah is working on strengthening her skills in stop motion animation and how to bring life to a series of props and characters in a modeled space. In all, she hopes to continue to grow and create pieces that capture the vivacious life we live, through her research in color theory and passion in merging exciting and unconventional mediums.
